fringe
I haven’t updated in such a long time, I’ve been so busy.. and now I’m sick in bed with a sore throat, which I hope to God will go away, because seriously I’d much rather go to work than be sick like this.
Last week, I idiotically cut my bangs at 3 in the morning because of an inexplicable impulse:

Loathe as I am to post a picture of Leighton Meester next to my face (obviously the comparison will not exactly be to my advantage), I will here because this was my ‘peg’ for the look:

She (as Blair) will forever be one of my style icons. Oh, and hey, give me a break, I’m bare faced in the shot while her face has been done by a professional make up artist. Let’s not be too quick in passing judgment, haha!
This was what my hair looked like before the cut (I had grown out my bangs):

So far I’ve kind of regretted cutting my own fringe. It’s not exactly the best haircut I’ve had in my life, and I’m a bit irritated that I look younger and ‘more Asian’ (I just don’t want to blend in and be categorized along with the generic look here, don’t get me wrong)… so I’m aiming to grow this out. Or style it in a more Leighton Meester way and not in an Angelababy way, haha!
If you didn’t know who Angelababy is, by the way, her face is plastered all over the LCD screens going up the Causeway Bay MTR exit. And if you’re not familiar, then she’s a model and actress from Hong Kong, who Mandy (a Hong Kongese girl I met at Mr. Wong’s one night with Felipe, etc.) believes I look like:

Yeah, I wish! haha!
Oh, and Happy Birthday to my amazing dad, Atty. Julius Raboca, as he turns 56 today!!

before going on the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak, August 2011
He was incidentally born on the same year as Steve Jobs (RIP) - just a random comparison I made yesterday when I watching all the Steve Jobs bios and videos going around.
And while we’re on the topic, as incoherent as it is, I just want to insert this because I feel it needs to be said: Mr. Jobs, thank you for your contribution to our generation, I’ve been a fan, your work has been quintessential to our age’s technology, may you rest in peace.
I still owe this blog a post about the immensely fun boat trip we had last Sunday, but what with Carla (my best friend from Siemens) coming over for the week and with the move from Cheung Sha Wan to Tsim Sha Tsui before the 14th of October, I don’t know when I’ll find the time for that! Fever aside, though, this week is full of promise! I can’t wait, this will be so much fun, hope you have a blast this weekend as well! And with that extremely random post done, I bid you farewell!
All my love,
Yeni
