Sunday was spent with old high school friends at the InterContinental lobby with a splendid view of the Hong Kong Harbour. Gayle was adamant to have her ‘high tea’ experience, so straight from Beijing-style lunch at Tsim Sha Tsui’s Delicious Kitchen, we headed for the harbour. We had a choice between the InterContinental and the Peninsula, but I lobbied hard for the former because of the amazing views:
And then we watched the sunset from the floor to ceiling windows
On the whole, though, I don’t believe the High Tea was worth it at $488 for two people (we shared it among the three of us - Gayle, Bernise, and I). The sandwiches were tasteless and far from fresh, whilst out of all the cakes, only the cheesecake was actually worth eating… Nothing beats the view and ambience of the place though, as the music was so good (it was a jazz quartet, I think - Filipino of course - playing modern classics, jazzified Top 40, etc.).
At the end of the day, it was a pleasant experience, but once is probably enough to last me a year or so without.
