“Love for Life”
I watched this movie last Monday with my sister. It’s about two of hundreds of Chinese villagers who contracted AIDS by selling their blood for money. I downloaded it off asiatorrents because I kept seeing posters of it in Beijing (last May) and in Hong Kong a few weeks ago.
The movie (starring Zhang Ziyi and the incredibly handsome Aaron Kwok) was set in rural China during the 90’s. It’s all about living and dreaming despite being faced with the fact that your death is imminent. Despite the hope-filled supposed theme, however, it was still incredibly depressing. I think they should’ve made the final scenes a bit less tormented if they wanted to stress the redeeming point that I think they were trying to make.
