Haircut from Hell
Titanium (Feat. Sia) by David Guetta & Sia on Grooveshark
Please don’t focus on the fugly picture of me having my hair dyed at Basement Salon, Powerplant Mall, Rockwell (just thought it would be a mood-setting visual for my entry). Instead, heed my warning and don’t have your hair cut by Haj in this salon.
My sister recommended this place to me for hair dye, saying the service was good and prices were reasonable (it’s around P3,000+ to have your roots dyed). My roots were turning black already, so I decided to retouch the color to brown (I don’t want to go back to black because I fancy myself as looking more sophisticated with brown hair… correct me if I’m wrong). I haven’t had my hair trimmed since November either, so I thought why not have a trim now as my hair was getting split ends and damaged at the tips.
As I am growing my hair (I want it to reach the small of my back or my belly button), I’ve been taking care to keep it healthy and not cut it more than an inch at a time. To cut the long story short (as I can go on and on about this), my hairdresser pretended to agree to trim only the damaged ends and then went on to f*cking chop off the fruits of my labour (growing hair is a long and tedious process involving serious patience and hard work lasting for YEARS)… I wanted to grow out my layers to have a thick mane but he insisted on giving me ‘soft layers’ - making my hair THIN, in other words.

the peg
Now I don’t think I’m the most beauty-conscious person on earth, but just thinking about how much longer I have to wait to get it back to the way it was again stresses me out. The next day I was trying to comfort myself that at least the damaged parts are gone, and proceeded with checking the ends of my hair - it was cut so badly that I still had loads of split ends even after having 2-4 inches cut off! F*ing hell…

happy before the cut

unhappy with my thin layered hair. Okay fine I know you can barely see the difference with these pictures, but look how full my hair looks in the ‘before’ shot and how thin it looks in the ‘after’ shot. Plus the latter doesn’t even cover my chest…
So if you’re growing your hair, DON’T get a haircut from Haj. My sister says go for Rosemary, she’ll follow your orders faithfully and not take liberties with your tresses.

Jesi Mendez Salon Review - If you want a haircut from the hearing impaired.

Was this me 6 years ago? you ask.

No, this was me after I had a “trim” from Jesi Mendez Salon a few hours ago. If you want a haircut from people who don’t bother listening to you when you tell them how you want your hair styled, then go to this salon.

I’m usually really fussy about where I get my hair done, but a while ago, after having my underarms lasered at Park Square while waiting for my dad to finish gyming, I had time to kill. I needed a trim anyway, so I thought to myself “Why not? What could go wrong?” WRONG.

I know, I know. It’s not that bad. But look at this:

That was me five years ago!!! It’s like I never changed. I know it’s different for caucasian people, but I don’t really wanna go back to the way I looked when I was 19, which translates to looking like a 12 year old in most people’s eyes. Could you fault me for wanting to look a little more mature and sophisticated? Ha ha.

Kidding aside, the stylists at Jesi Mendez probably haven’t taken any hair dressing refresher courses since 2005, since they don’t know any other way to cut hair. Oh, and let’s not forget the ear checkup - I said side swept bangs below the eyebrows, no layers, and a 1 inch trim. Simple right? Not for them, I guess.

PS. Hope you all had a great weekend!

PPS. I have nothing against the hearing impaired. Just against those who choose to be.

DO NOT subscribe to Wi-tribe Philippines

A word of warning to you all: if you’re thinking about getting Wi-tribe PH as your internet provider, think again. This horrible company cost us a few thousands and gave us nothing but problems in return.

It started four months ago when we signed up for a one year subscription under this plan:

My sister and dad thought our internet at home wasn’t fast enough, and there was Wi-tribe, a new player, offering “super fast 4G” internet at a reasonable price.

A few days later, we realized what a big mistake that was. We could not download anything - music, video, torrents - except in the wee hours of the night/morning, and the signal was unacceptably slow. Did they expect us to leave our laptops on the whole night and waste electricity and risk over radiation just so we could download our movies and songs? Or did they just expect us to NOT SLEEP just to be able to download torrents and get faster signal?

A few days later, we had NO INTERNET SIGNAL AT ALL at home. My sister called them to complain, and they sent people to our house to fix the router.

A few days later, DOWN AGAIN.

My sister called to have it cancelled, and was responded to by extremely evasive and vague people who seemed not to know what to do because they would get reprimanded if they allowed her to disconnect and cancel the service with refund. She had to call 2-3 times to get somewhere.

It came to a point when somebody told her that they did not have a good router for the Magallanes area (where we live), that’s why we couldn’t get any signal. THEN WHY, may I ask, did they agree to provide us with an internet for a year if they knew they couldn’t deliver for our area anyway?? This is an unethical business practice! They were probably banking on the fact that we would be lazy to go through the long and tedious process of cancelling the plan and getting refund. They made sure to make it hard for us to do so.

Finally, Wi-tribe agreed to give us a refund, but a month later (January), we received a bill once again, asking us to pay for the internet service that we NO LONGER USE. Rather, ARE UNABLE to use.

My sister called for the Nth time, and once again, the customer service representatives were acting clueless and were telling us we still had to pay. We had to re-explain the situation how many times over to different people.

Until now, the situation is not completely resolved. We have since switched back to our former and hassle-free (at least, most of the time) provider. I will update this post when the issue comes to a conclusion, and I hope you learn from our mistake.
