‘f*ck, why did I go shopping again?’
- taken with my sister’s iTouch a few hours ago at Shibuya while we were waiting for the train, the look on my face a mixture of stunned disbelief and self-loathing.. oh, and this is me post-trim and root color retouch - no more black roots and split ends! Hooray!
PS. The shoes I’m wearing had been lying on my shoe rack for months in Hong Kong, touched by me only twice: once to ponder over them (on whether or not they looked too overstated for my outfit), and the other time being when I transferred to a different apartment. I wore these shoes for the first time in my life during this Japan trip, despite having bought them almost a year ago. They’re actually quite comfortable, but I still don’t think I could muster the motivation to wear them in Hong Kong (where I have been decidedly avoidant of the typical ‘Hong Kongese girl’ look). However, here I find it impossible to avoid being mistaken for a Japanese girl anyway (go figure), so I’ve hence decided to go all out and embrace all 5 feet 9 inches of my Japanese alter ego.
Day #1 in Japan: Upon arriving, we took the JR Yamanote line to Shinagawa from Ueno.. the first time I ever wore heels - and 5 inch platform booties, at that - for travel. Usually I’m much more pragmatic.
*if there’s a Japanese song you know, it’s probably this one: “First Love” by Utada Hikaru
PS. That’s not me wearing a shirt and leggings, I thought you should know (I hate it when people do that..) I’m wearing a black skirt!

and checking the Dragonair website, I saw this: Special Airfare to Manila from HKD900 (only Php4,900.00), plus another promo called Exclusive Domestic Helper Fares! haha!
AND guess what goes to THIS place from Hong Kong?:

Answer: A train!
Here’s an excerpt from the website I looked up:
Hong Kong 香港 to GuiLin 桂林 by TRAIN
Actual train route will be this:
Hong Kong - ShenZhen - GuangZhou - GuiLin
There are actually 2 sets of trains you can catch, one leaves from ShenZhen, and the other leaves from GuangZhou and passes through GuiLin to LiuZhou.
Catch the number T38/39 ShenZhen to GuiLin train which starts in ShenZhen and finishes in GuiLin.
You can do this from any MTR Station in Hong Kong, you will need to connect with the East Rail Line heading north to Lo Wu. Connecting MTR Stations are either East Tsim Sha Tsui or Kowloon Tong.
GuiLin to ShenZhen trains are night trains there is plenty of time to buy your tickets and get to see a little bit of ShenZhen too.
Getting carried away with this! Right now, I shouldn’t even be booking anything, as I have yet to find a way to NOT waste the tickets my dad already purchased for us going to Tokyo from Manila and back this coming October-November (for the Halloween/All Saint’s Day Weekend). I will have only earned around 2 days of leave from work by then, so I have to find some way to negotiate with the future boss. Hopefully he’ll be amenable.
I’ll be off to the wake of one of my close friends’ father this afternoon (it’s heartbreaking to see another person lose a parent, and now more than ever I feel their pain as if it were my own).
This evening, I’ll be heading to dinner with Michelle P. and Mirei O., and then tomorrow it’s off to the province for maybe a week, so I won’t be seeing anyone until maybe the 22nd! And then after the 29th, it’s farewell to the Philippines and all its’ chaos, hopefully to a more sane place wherein Scarlet Fever was but a distant nightmare! I’m partly kidding, but you know there’s a lot of truth to that, right?
Anyway, ciao to all of you, I’ll be sure to update you, please update me, and keep in touch!
xxx
PS. I’m no longer using the number 09178677479 as I returned that phone to the office. Please text me through my Sun number (which I’ve had since I was in high school). :)
None of the passengers of a Metro Rail System (MRT) train was hurt after its third coach got detached from the rest of the train while traveling from Quezon Avenue to Kamuning Monday morning, according to a Radyo Inquirer report, quoting an MRT official.
